Small but Professional

Cherin Spencer-Bower has always been committed to wildlife conservation. In 2004, she received a scholarship to study music/photography at Utah Valley University where she earned an Associate of Art & Science. Shortly after, she worked as a wildlife rehabilitator and educator, and snowboard teacher. She started a business photographing horseback excursions in Colorado before returning to school in 2010 to earn a B.S. in Organismal and Environmental Biology at Fort Lewis College in Colorado.

Over the next five years, Cherin worked as an avian research technician in six western states. During this time, she always had a camera attached to her hip capturing the natural world as she saw it. She landed in western Montana in 2015 to observe migrating hawks, eagles, and falcons at MPG Ranch. Her continued passion for photography and video progressed into a career at the ranch filming wildlife and nature, and creating documentaries regarding the environmental research and concerns across the 16,400 acre conservation easement. In 2016, Cherin moved to New Zealand. She spends all her free time outdoors with her family: filming, gardening, hunting, and exploring New Zealand’s landscape by foot or paddle.
